Hello Blog

It happened again. After discovering Kagi Small Web, I decided to start my blog. It’s not my first time initiating such a project. I can’t remember when exactly, but I know I did it years ago. Unfortunately, it was quickly abandoned.

What I saw on the Small Web was like a breath of fresh air. In a world burdened with paid reviews and astroturfing, authentic opinions and experiences are precious. I can imagine the bots of the future will write their own blogs and have fake identities and interests, but thankfully (I hope) we aren’t there yet.

For the time being, I decided not to use AI to write the content of this website. Why? You see, when visiting the blog of another, I’d rather read the ‘imperfect’ yet unique voice of the author. Thus, following the golden rule, I offer to you, the reader, my thoughts on a broad range of subjects, rendered in my unique and far-from-perfect usage of English.

That’s it for my first post. The lists that follow are mostly for my own use. Consulting them often should help me achieve this goal: to make blogging a habit.

The benefits of blogging

  1. Become a better writer.
  2. Have the off chance of making a friend or building an audience that is interested in what I have to say.
  3. Practice some web technologies and experience problems that could become business opportunities.
  4. Have support for structured thinking.
  5. Memorize what I write about.
  6. Enjoy a fun hobby.

Ways of making blogging a habit

  1. Write every Saturday morning after waking up.
  2. Don’t insist on writing long posts. Even a single sentence is enough.
  3. Make it easy to write and publish (more on that later).
  4. Keep a ready list of subjects I want to post about.
  5. Remember the benefits of blogging.

Subjects I might want to write about next

  1. Guidelines for my blog
  2. Book takeaways
  3. My experience interviewing and hiring a software intern
  4. Why I chose Astro over Hugo, 11ty, Ghost, etc.
  5. Quotes I like
  6. How this blog is set up
